Disclaimer
I just finished up the great blog hunt and all I have to say is that you will never find anything objectable or distasteful here. I am amazed at what some people will put on their websites. (Ok, hopefully my post on my bleeding wasn't too graphic.) Anyways, besides that the blog hunt was fun looking for clues and reading some of the posts. (Fuzzy pants, or was that fussy pants.) So children are welcome to read my site!

Is it a boy or a girl?
Well, we went in for another ultrasound today. And darn that little stinker. He was all scrunched up in a little ball. His knees were touching his nose! So when we tried to take a look at his little bottom, the umbilical cord was there in the way making it hard to tell what sex the baby was. Here I am talking like it is a boy. I thought that's what I saw last week. Today the technician thought it was a girl at first, then she said maybe a boy, and then we finally decided that it was just impossible to tell right now. That's ok. I've got another ultrasound in four weeks. Maybe by then this little one will let us know what we're having!
So the blood in the top of the uterus is still there. It has not changed. But I have also been diagnosed with partial placenta previa. The placenta is lying close to the cervix. It is our hope that as the baby grows bigger and the placenta gets larger that it will move away from the cervix. So, I am on another four weeks of limited activity. I can do a little more, but still can't do too much. So I am trying out "The Great Blog Hunt" to pass the time. I also have a few books to read from a friend. So hang in their little buddy or sweetie pie!

Hang in there buddy!
Well, I've been spotting off and on all week. It seems to be heavier if I'm up more. Thursday I have an ultrasound again. Hang in there little fella'! I got to spend the weekend with Todd's parents. Todd had to work Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights and it seemed easier just to take the kids there and spend time resting there than be home bothering Todd while he was trying to sleep. We had a great time and I hope we didn't wear Grandma and Grandpa out! It is a great blessing to have them so close.

I have a subchorionic bleed
Well, I am on bedrest right now. Wednesday afternoon I went to Alex's school to play the piano for the choir. Right as I stepped out of the car I felt a warm gush. I thought maybe I was peeing my pants at first, and then thought, no way, what's going on. So I sat back down in the car and had another gush. It was obvious then I was bleeding. So I headed home. It felt like forever trying to get home. You just wanted everyone to move out of your way! I think I was scared that I was going to keep gushing blood. Luckily it didn't. I get home and tell Todd to take me to the hospital. After cleaning up and changing we head out. We decide to call the doctor to see if he wants us to go his office instead of the hospital. He tells us to come to the office. As I walk into the office, blood gushes again. (Now I'm wishing I'd brough more clothes!) I hope I didn't scare any of the ladies in the waiting room. There were about three other people there as I walked in and then knelt down as I felt the gushing start. Ok, I hope I'm not going into too much detail about this. So, anyways, we get back to a room right away and wait for the doctor to come. The first thing he does is check for a heart
beat, and luckily it was there. He then feels the uterus and says that it feels larger than 15 weeks and measures me to about 19/20 weeks along. He says there's either bleeding or twins. I knew it was bleeding when he said that. Then we head to another room to do an ultrasound. They find that at the top of the uterus, there is a good amount of blood that has collected. The blood was causing the uterus to feel larger than it was. They diagnose it as a subchorionic bleed. From my understanding, a subchorionic bleed is a gathering of blood between the membranes of the placenta and the uterus. (In the picture at the right, the P stands for placenta, blue line surrounds the baby, and the red is obviously the blood.) They suspect a small seperation of the placenta has caused the bleeding. None of the bleeding was bright red, so that was a good sign that it was not actively bleeding, that old blood was just trying to drain out. So I am told that the blood could continue to drain or that it might just eventually be absorbed by the body. That is the hopes of it anyways. So I am now on bedrest to make sure that whatever caused the bleeding is healing or has healed and to keep an eye out on the bleeding. We will take it day by day. The baby is measuring right on schedule with a heart rate of 162 beats per minute. I go in next Thursday for another ultrasound to see how things are going. And I didn't get a good look, but it is my assumption from what I saw that this is a baby boy. I think I will ask on Thursday to be sure.

We are on the military's health insurance, Tricare. They don't pay for routine ultrasounds unless medically necessary, or you could go to a military hospital to have it done, which would be in Layton. So, we were thinking maybe we would just have a surprise and never get to see this little one. Well, we got our ultrasound anyways. Not sure this is the way to go, though, to have an ultrasound! :)
As long as there is no bright red bleeding or cramping, the prognosis is usually good. So far so good here. It has been nice to sit in bed and have no worries. But it is getting a little old and getting to be boring. Especially with the prospects of warm weather coming. I also get to miss the ROTC closing social (formal event) and a barbeque. But the good part about it is that Todd has one week of school left, thank goodness it's not the middle of the semester! He's been great. Doing alot of work around the house and getting the children to help as well. Well, I think my novel has gone on long enough. Now I think I'll take a nap. Who knew you could get so tired from sitting around all day!

Something funny Emily said
For his birthday, Karsten got a trolly to go along with his geotracks train set. While the children were playing with the train, I suggested that they hook the trolley to the train. Emily turns and looks at me and says, "But Mom, trolley's don't have hookers." I thought that was funny.

Pickles and Tomatoes
So my cravings lately include pickles and tomatoes. Did anyone else have any cravings? I don't remember having any real cravings with the other children. This baby is making everything totatlly different!

I actually cleaned something!
I am feeling better every day! It is great. Today I cleaned out the linen closet. Alex cleaned the toyroom up by placing everything in the room on a blanket. Then he folded up that blanket with everything in it and put it in the linen closet. I wondered how he cleaned up the room so quick but didn't see it in their bedrooms. Later I look into the closet, and what do I see? These children put more energy into figuring out how they can get out of cleaning then it would take to just clean the room! Whatever.
I think I need a bladder transplant. It is driving me crazy having to go to the bathroom like every 5 minutes. The joys. I've gained about ten pounds now. The kids all unanimously want a girl. Even the boys want a girl. So, we shall see. I can't believe that I will have six children. It doesn't feel like I have that many children for some reason.
It is suppose to get up to 60 degrees this afternoon! We are going to go outside for the rest of the day here after I get myself and the boys dressed. I love the spring. I've got most of my seeds planted and most have come up. I still need to plant tomatoes. I'm debating about some more flowers. I have 152 plants in my makeshift greenhouse in the hotwater closet. Todd built me some shelves in their and I bought some flourescent lights and I've got plants growing! I have impatients, petunias, vinca, holly hock, columbine, and green chilies. Well, the day is going by and I will miss all the warm weather if I don't get out! So, good day.
