"Serious illnesses, family tragedies, and emotional struggles do not happen necessarily because we have sinned. Adversity and heartbreak happen to good people; such is the fruit of a fallen world. But having experienced tragedy, sickness, and disappointment in His own life, the Savior knows how to strengthen us in such trials as well. He is there not only when we cry out from the burden of sin but also when we cry out for any other reason." -Bruce D. Porter

Very good quote! I think sometimes we think if something goes wrong then something bad must have been done. Trials/bad things happen for any number of reasons. Some are trials given to us(though personally I think this is a very small number because of all the rest of the reasons), some from the consequences of our own choices, some from the consequences of other's choices, and some just because things just happen. I don't think God orchestrates every little thing, especially bad things in our lives, but I think that He uses all those things as natural tests. I think it's important, even if difficult, to remember that about our own lives as well as the lives of others. Thanks for sharing such a good quote to remind us of that!

I forgot to add that I love the part that no matter where how the trial came into our lives, the Savior is always there. I have this great quote from Elder Eyring where he talks about how the Savior doesn't necessarily help us out of a trial, but He will always help us through it. The Savior absolutel has the strength, power and wisdom to help us through everything. Sometimes we only remember the atonement in the manner of forgiveness of sins, but in it Christ experienced ALL sorrow, pains and afflictions, so He knows perfectly how we feel in any given situation and therefore can help us through. Hmmm... reminds me of another great quote from Chieko Okazaki. I love great quotes!
